Forum on Biomass Industry in Indonesia: Challenges and opportunities
Biomass Pellets : Towards a new era of renewable energy
Background
Since 2012, Republic of Korea has committed to promote renewable energy, especially biomass utilization, so enacted new policy, RPS (renewable portfolio standard), which Large power generation companies follow mandatorily the ratio of renewable energy. This policy is a catalyst for booming renewable energy, especially wood pellet production sector.
In 2009, Between Korea Forest Service, Republic of Korea and Ministry of Forestry, Republic of Indonesia have signed MOU 200,000ha concerning the cooperation.
In the context, since 2009 a Korean Company invested to produce wood pellet at Wonosovo, other companies have vigorously knocked the doors looking for chances to cooperate here Indonesia.
In addition, as a pilot project, both countries have cooperated producing wood pellet and plantation funded by KOICA. On July 8, it was held opening ceremony. In addition, Korea Green Promotion Agency and Perum Perhutani started to cooperate the pilot project for biomass plantation at Semarang, Central Java since 2011.
Purpose
Host by the Embassy of the Republic of Korean, Korea Forest Service, and Korea-Indonesia Forest Center/support by Korea Forest Bioenergy Association in Indonesia
Give this opportunity to share Indonesian Energy& Biomass policies and case studies of private sector of current status, challenges and chances for future. .
1. introduce Indoneisan Polices of forest biomass plantation, palm redisues utilization, National renewable energy and biomass industry
2. Face to face communicate each side interested and promising companies
§ Indoneisa : Research Institute (PPKS etc), State company (Perum Perhutani, Inhutani, PTPN, PLN), related Association (APHI, GAPKI etc)
§ Korea : interested and promising Investment Companies
